Kyokushin Karate

Kyokushin Karate is a full-contact martial art known for its intense physical training, realistic fighting, and strong spirit. It emphasizes powerful strikes, conditioning, and the idea of pushing one’s limits both physically and mentally.
“Kyokushin” means "the ultimate truth."

History & Founder

Kyokushin was founded by Masutatsu (Mas) Oyama (1923–1994), a Korean-Japanese martial artist. He created Kyokushin in 1964 to bring karate back to its practicalwarrior roots.
Oyama became famous for fighting bulls bare-handed and completing 100-man kumite (fighting 100 opponents in a row).
He believed karate should be a way to forge the character and test the body and mind under real pressure.

The Kyokushin Logo

The Kyokushin symbol, called the Kanku, comes from the "Kanku Kata" where hands are raised to the sky.

  • The points represent the fingertips, symbolizing high aspirations.

  • The thick circle stands for power and circular movement.

  • The center represents infinity and inner calm.

It reflects the balance between strength and humility, a key concept in Kyokushin philosophy.
