A young boy set out on a journey to learn from a famous martial arts master.

When he arrived at the dojo, he was invited to introduce himself.“ What do you seek from me?” the master asked.“ I want to become your student and be the greatest fighter in the land,” the boy replied.

“How long will that take?” “At least ten years,” the master answered. “Ten years is a long time,” the boy said. “What if I train twice as hard as your other students?” “Then it will take twenty years,” the master said calmly. “Twenty years? What if I train day and night, putting everything I have into it?” “Then it will take thirty years,” the master replied. The boy was confused. “How is it possible that the harder I try, the longer it takes?” The master looked him in the eye and said,

“When one eye is fixed on your goal, you only have one eye left to find the path.”

Food for thought

In the rush to arrive, we often forget how to truly travel.

Real mastery isn’t just in effort  it’s in awareness, patience, and presence.

Focus not only on the destination, but on the wisdom found in every step.
