The chocolate and the cost of greed

One day, a student asked his teacher, “What is greed?” The teacher replied, “To understand greed, go to the chocolate factory next to our school. As you walk through it, pick the one chocolate you like the most. But there’s one rule once you pass a chocolate, you cannot go back. You must keep moving forward.” The student entered the factory. Early on, he saw a beautiful chocolate wrapped neatly and thought,  “This looks great.”  But then he hesitated, wondering if there might be a bigger or better one ahead. So, he kept walking. Later, he found another one, but again thought, “Maybe there’s something even better further down.”  As he reached the end of the factory, he realized that the earlier chocolates had been much better than any of the ones near the exit. In the end, he left the factory empty-handed. He returned to his teacher and explained what had happened. The teacher smiled and said, “You found something you liked, but because of the desire for more, you passed it by. That, my dear, is greed.”

Food for thougth
Greed often blinds us to the value of what we already have. In chasing “more” or “better,” we may miss out on what was already good and fulfilling. Life isn't always about getting the biggest prize  it's about recognizing when enough is enough.
