One day, a student asked his master, “Can you tell me the mystery of life? Or do you have a book that explains the truth behind it?” The master pulled a book from his shelf. It was about the secrets and miraculous powers of water, and its importance to life on Earth.
He handed the book to the student and said: “Take it with both hands and wring it out!”The student looked puzzled, but did as he was told. He squeezed and twisted, but the master insisted: “Come on! Harder!” Despite his best efforts, the student eventually gave up, confused. The master asked, “So, did any water come out of it?” “Well… no, of course not!” replied the student.“You see,” said the master, “no water comes from a book about water. And no life ever comes from a book about life. Life must be lived the mystery lies not in words, but in the living itself.”
Reading about life is not the same as living it. Wisdom isn’t something you squeeze from pages it flows from experience. Let the books guide you, but never forget to step into the stream.
