The Roaring Bear

Once upon a time, there was a big, strong bear who lived on the edge of the forest. He was known for his deafening roar. Every morning and every evening he roared so loudly that all the animals ran away in fear. "Look how powerful I am," the bear thought proudly. "Everyone is afraid of me!" One day, an old, wise turtle came by. She calmly stood still as the bear began roaring again. "Why don’t you run away?" the bear growled. The turtle looked at him calmly and said: "Because your roar is just loud, but it carries no wisdom. You don’t earn real respect with noise you earn it with good deeds."The bear fell silent. For the first time in his life, he thought about these words. He looked at the animals who always kept out of his way and realized that he was actually very lonely. From that day on, he didn’t roar as often, but was kinder to the other animals. And little by little, they began to come closer to him again.

Food for thought

Shouting loudly may seem powerful, but often no one really listens. With quiet, kind actions you gain more than with loud words.
