The Mice’s Meeting
In a big mouse hole, all the mice gathered for an important meeting. Everyone was nervous, because the cat from the farm made their lives dangerous. Every day she prowled around and would catch a mouse if she could.An old grey mouse spoke up: "We need to come up with something! It can’t go on like this. Who has an idea?" A young mouse jumped up and cried excitedly: "I’ve got it! We’ll hang a bell around the cat’s neck.
Then we’ll hear her coming and can escape in time." All the mice cheered."Yes, that’s it! What a clever plan!" they squeaked over each other. But then the old mouse asked sternly: "And which one of you will hang the bell on the cat?" Suddenly the room fell silent. No one dared to squeak. No one was brave enough to face the cat. They looked at each other, shuffled their paws… and finally each one crawled back into his hole.
